About

At Acorn we aim to provide all residents with a high standard of care in a friendly, homely atmosphere, responding professionally to the ever-changing needs of each individual. Our dedicated staff is headed by a registered manager, who has many years of experience in caring for the elderly. Our managers provide hands-on supervision to maintain our tradition of excellence. All Staff are DBS checked and trained to an appropriate level, many with NVQ qualifications. Training is sponsored by the company as part of an on-going commitment to training and retaining high quality staff.

As in all our establishments, there is full disabled access, lifts to all floors and specialised equipment is available, e.g. for assisted bathing. Physiotherapy, Chiropody, Dentists and Opticians are all available on request. Local clergy of all denominations are encouraged to visit on a regular basis and can also be arranged on request. We have full time occupational therapist who is responsible for organising the daily activities. The home is visited by hairdressers and a range of complimentary therapies can be arranged on request at your own cost. A full programme of activities is available to our residents, tailored to their needs and abilities.

Acorn Nursing Home originally established in 1989 was acquired by Regency Healthcare Limited in December 2007. The Home caters for the elderly people who may or may not have nursing needs. Built during the Victorian era it is the former vicarage to All Saints Church and has been extended in keeping with the original stonework. We provide a mixture of single and shared rooms with a small number having en-suite facilities.

Our trained chefs prepare a wide range of home cooked food using fresh local produce. The choice is based on traditional recipes and daily alternatives are provided at every meal time. Special diets are also catered for.

Although there is a non-smoking policy in the home, special smoking zones are designated and both smokers and non-smokers are accommodated in all our care homes. Accommodation is fully inclusive of laundry.

The home welcomes guests funded by Social Services and those who are privately paying clients. This home is inspected and accredited by CQC, in accordance with statutory government regulation.

To all the wonderful staff.

Thank you so much for caring for my brother ‘P’ in his final weeks of life. He wasn’t the casual of patients to care for as you all discovered. Being so let away was difficult, but you were all so helpful when telephoned it didn’t matter what time it was, I was updates in a most considerate manner. Being a nurse myself it was easy for me to recognize the caring & compassion. All the staff I had contact with, my brother received care from performed above & beyond. I & my family were so grateful and relieved to know that ‘P’ was in such good hands.

May your Gods go with you
